Carpenter Ants are now ignoring both baits! Now what?
I've successfully controlled what could have been a bad infestation inside the house by baiting outside using both the Advance granular and Max Force gel baits. I thought I hit the sweet spot in their diet because workers of all sized were gobbling up both baits. But I've noticed over the course of a week, while the number of ants on or near our tree has dwindled, the ants are now ignoring both baits. Do the ants learn these baits are bad for them?
Carpenter ants feed in cycles, so bait that was attractive to them previously may not have the same effect at a later time. We recommend that you place the baits in different locations and see if they feed on them. If they do not, place them again in different areas. You may have to wait until they change their feeding cycle in order to see results.
