Keep in mind that before we explain bed bug treatment, it will take a variety of bed bug control methods to completely eradicate the infestation. Moreover, the key to eliminating bed bugs is to be consistent and very thorough with your treatment.
Key hiding spaces are going to be any cracks and crevices around the room. Any piece of furniture or fixture on the wall, cracks around the baseboards of the room, behind and under furniture and etc.
can provide a hiding space. Since certain formulations of products can be used in a specific place, it will require a variety of formulations to treat for bed bugs.
This is primarily the reason why we provide bed bug kits.
Bed bug kits generally includes an aerosol formulation, a liquid concentrate formulation, an IGR formulation, and a dust product.
Aerosols are used in more intimate areas like your furniture, your mattress, couch, bedframe, chairs, and etc. Treat each crack or crevice on the piece of furniture every two weeks.
Liquid concentrates are for broad surface areas like the immediate area surrounding your furniture on the floor, the base board areas of each room, and etc. Liquid concentrate insecticides must be applied every 2-3 months.
IGR stands for insect growth regulator and does not have a killing effect but will control reproduction because it will prohibit the bed bugs from physically developing or maturing. IGR can be applied in the same way as the liquid concentrate insecticide.
Dust products are applied to restricted or hard to reach areas like the wall void, behind or under furniture, behind wall fixtures and picture frames, and etc. Treat with the dust every 4-5 months. Remember that being thorough is the key.
It may be difficult to keep up with but thoroughness and consistency is the key to bed bug elimination.
For your clothes, hot water wash and hot dry will be sufficient enough. If your clothes are too sensitive to wash or too delicate to wash, then you can use something like Nuvan Pro Strips in an air tight sealed bag. Using the Nuvan Pro Strips, however, takes a few days.
All pesticides have a strict product label that must be reviewed carefully before any application.
