Q. what product would you use for pharaoh ant
A. Treating for pharaoh ants can be one of the most difficult ant treatments because they infest in large numbers. The best way to treat a colonizing ant infestation is to bait them. We would recommend the Sygenta Advion Ant Bait Gels.
Q. is there a product that will cover most types of ants? we have had some ants in our house and we are not sure what type they are
A. Ants that infest indoors are usually foraging for food. Therefore it is best to use a type of bait gel. We would recommend either the Sygenta Advion Ant Bait Gel or the Maxforce Ant Gel.
Q. How to get rid of lttle ants running on office table?
A. The best type of insecticide to use for ant control are ant baits in either the gel form or in the bait stations. Maxforce Ant Bait Stations are very popular and we also have the Dupont Ant Bait Gel that is very popular. Depending on the type of bait you are using, placement will change. Please look at the product label for directions before application.
Q. Moisture Ants
Hi, I am plagued with Ants that are destroying my shrubs. These ants do not come out of the ground but make their nests under shrubs & bushes. They make a hill inside the Shrub or Bush and I have some hills that are Knee High now. When you try to destroy their hill - you see NOTHING. One of the bushes they had a nest in that was over a foot high - we cut down and started digging under the bush to find out what was causing the problem. We only started finding them after we pulled the roots of the bush out. We had to dig down around at least 8" before we found our first ants. They are a reddish brown ant - all uniform in size. After a little research on the internet - I found out what they were and a photo of them. Beings they do not come to the surfact to eat - spraying on the surface will not get to them, nor will powder or granuals I don't believe. Do you have anything you recommend that can reach down to them? According to my research - it is Very Hard to Locate a Nest of them. Thank You
We recommend using Termidor SC
or Phantom SC
to treat the soil around the nest. Both Termidor and Phantom are liquid concentrate products that you dilute with water. They are very effective on ants as well as termites. If you pour it into the soil and nest, the liquid will seep below the surface
Q. Ant problem in Tampa, FL yard
Hi, I have a question regarding controlling an ant problem I have in my Tampa, FL yard. I have been applying liquid Talstar for about 8 years to my St. Augustine grass yard to control chinch bugs. I use an Ortho hose end sprayer to apply about 3-4oz of Talstar to about 2000 sq ft of yard, and then about 3-4 ft up the side of the house, as well as in a lot of shrubs and bushes in my small yard. I apply it every 2-3 months on average, more in the summer, less in the winter. Talstar has worked great for the chinch bugs, no yard damage going on 8 yrs now. But it doesn't seem to work as well on the ant problem I have. I have very small, orange colored ants all throughout the yard. Looking at pictures on the internet, I think they are pharaoh ants, but I am not positive. They move very rapidly, but not like the unpredictable motion of \"crazy ants\". There are no mounds anywhere, they can be found just about anywhere in the yard. They are definitely worse in the summer than any other time of the year. I almost never see them indoors. For the last several years, it's been hit or miss with controlling these ants with Talstar applications. I end up applying more Talstar in the summer in my attempt at knocking out the ants. I've found that these ants can often return within a week or 2 of applying the Talstar. Do you have a recommendation on how to control these ants? Would your recommended insecticide also be appropriate for chinch bug control? Or should I alternate applications to control both? I hate to go away from the Talstar but the ants can make the yard almost unusable for my young children, as there are no mounds for them to avoid. These ants seem scattered everywhere. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Also, the hose end sprayer is some what of a nuisance to use. Do you recommend a good backpack type sprayer I could use for the Talstar and/or the pest control product you think would help with the ants? I've seen some of the backpack sprayers costing almost $100, do I need to spend that amount to get a quality product? Thank you,
Thank you for contacting us with your questions and concerns. Because ants are social insects always in search for food, bait granulars would be the best alternative for contact kill insecticides.
Advance 375A granular would be a good product to use for ants.
We also have a back pack sprayer under $100 on our website. Chapin 4 Gallon Back Pack Sprayer
Q. Will ant granules prevent tiny ants from coming indoors?
Every spring after it rains we have an infestation of tiny ants. They seem to like soap and sweets. Can I use ant granules outside to prevent them from coming indoors? Terro baits usually work after I notice the problem, but I would like to eliminate the problem before it happens.
A. Bait granules work the best if you apply it directly in their normal path of travel or directly on their mound. You can create a barrier with liquid insecticide on the outside of your home in bands. The bands extend up 4 ft. up the structure from the base and 4 ft. out from the base of the structure. Regular granular insecticide can be used as a broadcast treatment on the entire lawn. Thank you for contacting us. For an indoor ant problem, we recommend using the Alpine Ant Gel Bait
. Because ants are social insects, they will take the bait back to their colony, getting rid of the source of the problem.

Q. How can I finally get this under control?
I had a load of laundry (dark clothes) that I didn't get to one day so I left on the bedroom floor for the next day. When I woke up there was milions of ants on it. They seemed to be swarming. I looked for a trail but could not see one. I sprayed ant killer on them and put down Terro but saw none on the Terro. I spated the inside of the house with Home Defense. I then sprayed the outside with an ant killer I got from a professional.I thought I was done. One week later I opened my linen closet and there was another infestation. Same routine as last time. One week later, kitchen! Today...dog food. I am going crazy. Losing sleep. I think ants are crawling on me. I live in a mobile home could there be a nest under my house> Bought some 388 something and just put it on my porch and am sitting here watching a swarm eat eat it. YIKES! Can you please help me?
A. The way you treat outside for ants requires thoroughness. Spray around the entire perimeter of the house to create a barrier with a product like Suspend SC. You want to spray the entire perimeter of the house, spraying a few feet up and a few feet out from the base of the structure as well as targeting window frames and door frames. We also recommend using baits like the Dupont Advion Ant Bait Gel. Use them in areas like under the sink, under cabinets, behind appliances, in corners, along the base boards, on window sills, near door frames, and etc. If you have pets and small children, make sure to apply the gel baits in areas that they cannot access.
