Friday, 31. August 2012 8:43

Very few of us would want to admit a mice infestation, but it can happen to even the best-kept houses. A mouse or rodent infestation may occur due to change in weather, search for food or to hide from predators. Mice infestation may be quite dangerous since the rodents may bring the possibility of a disease, including Hantavirus. This disease may infect human beings when they come in contact with the droppings of mice or urine. Rats have been a cause of house fires by gnawing through house wires. General Rodent Control Information

Thursday, 30. August 2012 17:44

Rodents are mammals characterized by a single pair of continuously growing
Incisors in both the upper and lower jaw. Common examples of rodents include house mouse, rats, squirrels, mice and chipmunks. One main characteristic of all these rodents is that they are very destructive. Man on the other hand is very protective of its property and hates destruction. This leads to conflict of interest between the rodents and man. To restore balance, man has come up with ways to ensure that rodents do not destroy his property and this perfectly answers the question what is rodent control. However, the mice are cunning and use all means to ensure their continual destruction. To curb the cunning ways of the rodents man has come up with the following ways:-

I have a rat infestation. How do i get rid of them? When they eat the zinc poison, what if they hide and die?

Question  : I have a rat infestation. How do i get rid of them? When they eat the zinc poison, what if they hide and die?

Answer : If you would like to see visual results then traps may be a better alternative for your rodent control. Bait poison never guarantees a certain spot where you will most likely find the poisoned rodent. However some say that the poison tends to dehydrate the rats so they usually die near a water source.

House is invested with cockroaches and mice.

Wednesday, 13. April 2011 14:50

Questions  : We have a family friend who we are trying to help out and we have just been informed that she is a hoarder. With that being said, the social worker tells us that the entire house is invested with cockroaches and mice.

My question is: What can we keep and what needs to be thrown out. Can we keep non-fabric type furniture and other items and not worry about re-infestation? Should we throw out all fabric type material?

Answer : The first step you should take is to get rid of all clutters and possible sources of food for both the roaches and rodents. All pests like to reside in areas with food and shelter. As long as these two factors are accessible for them, it would be an invitation to stay.
So first, you must take those initial steps of limiting all clusters and closing up all holes inside the wall areas where the rodents may be traveling through. For limiting food sources it is recommended that you keep all food contained in areas inaccessible to the insects or rodents.

Fastrac rodenticide is one of the best and fastest one time kill rodent poison that we carry. Next best to Fastrac would be Final, then Contrac blox.

For cockroach control, Dupont Advion Cockroach gel bait would be the most efficient for your treatment. Dupont has newly formulated their product so that the roaches cannot become immune to it. With these steps you should be closer to the result that you were seeking after. Good Luck!

Squirrels

Squirrels:

Grey Squirrels:

Grey squirrels, or Sciurus Caroliniensis, are the most common species in the squirrel family to cause the most problems for home owners and bird watchers. Squirrels can cause damages in attics of homes in many ways. Many times a small damage can eventually lead to one big problem. Squirrels, like most rodents have a chewing or gnawing problem. However their bad habits of chewing or gnawing serve a very important purpose. The fronts of their teeth grow constantly approximately up to 6 inches a year.  Therefore, the squirrels by nature have no choice but to constantly gnaw or chew on objects to keep their teeth filed down to a comfortable length. If a squirrel were not able to file its teeth down, it could eventually starve to death. When infested by squirrels, the squirrels may chew through electrical wires, creating a possible potential for a house fire. Squirrels can also chew through any kind of flat surfaces or gutters causing leaks which could also lead to further damages. Many times squirrels may chew through water pipes creating water damages. Other times they could even damage the insulation in homes reducing thermal efficiency of homes. Squirrels may also cause damages on stored food or create a bad odor inside of a home. Damages are not only caused indoors by squirrels, but outdoor as well by digging up random holes on lawns to uncover the food they had once hidden. Squirrels are also big pests for bird watchers who leave bird feeds in their yards. Many times the squirrels will try to get into the birdfeed for food, often times destroying the bird feed or scaring the birds away. Keep Reading
