Bifenthrin is best known to target species of mites. Clover Mites usually feed on saps from grasses and clovers so spraying those areas would be ideal. I would also recommend that you spray around your back porch in areas where you are mostly seeing their activity. Once it has fully dried it is safe to reoccupy the area. Dry time can take about 3-4 hours.

Sorry to hear about your clover mite infestation. That must be overwhelming seeing all those eggs!! The active ingredient Bifenthrin is supposed to work best for mite treatment. I would recommend Talstar Pro. You will need to do a thorough perimeter treatment around the outside of your home as well as along all window and door frames. If you have ornamental plants around the outside of your house near the window where you are currently seeing the infestation, I would recommend application around those areas as well. Unfortunately this is not something you can put on your skin, but after treating the outside of your home, you should be able to get some relief.

If you can have the pest identified, we will be able to better assist you in selecting a treatment program or insecticide to help you eradicate the pest. The humidity may play a role in the infestation, however, leaving your window open at all times may serve as a potential entry point for pests, unless you have good screening and no cracks or crevices around the window. I don’t think they are ants or water beetles, since these two types of pests are fairly large and easily identifiable. I think I have clover mites in my first-floor apartment. My landlady and the exterminator have said they’re ants or water beetles, but what I’m looking at is the size of pinhead and either black or dark red. They congregate in my bathtub (ew!) and bedroom window sills and floor. I have gone through four cans of Raid this summer, to no avail. My landlady says to keep my windows open all the time because of the humidity, but that seems to attract more of them. What can I do for the INSIDE of my house? All the treatments I see are for outdoors, and that’s her lawn, so I’m not allowed to spray.

I wonder, have you done any outdoor treatment? Sometimes, if there is an influx of an infestation on the outside on the ornamental plants, they may begin to wander towards the inside. You may need to spray such areas with a concentrate spray like Suspend SC. Liquid concentrate sprays that are diluted with water and sprayed onto surfaces have a long residual time and will give a lasting residual for up to 2 months outdoors. Suspend SC can also be applied thoroughly around cracks and crevices on the structure, inside the structure and even on places like the base boards, window sills, and door frames. You can use the same product both indoor and outdoor. We recommend Lambdastar 9.7 to spray both inside and outside. Keep in mind though that it is only safe for reentry only after the treated area is completely dry. The granules are going to be safe after 24 hours and the water soluble insecticides are safe after the product has dried. However, do not use these products in the pool area. You can use them near the stairs and the patio. This is because although pool water is not meant for drinking, swimmers and especially children have a tendency to consume the water while inside the pool. Insecticides remain active in the water and could potentially be harmful.

Yes, the products are safe to use as long as you are using them as directed on the label. For the rock walls and patios, you should use the liquid concentrate. This will provide control for up to 4 months. Let the product dry before coming in contact with the treated area again. Barrier treatment is a term and it is exactly what it sounds like. When you are doing a barrier treatment, you are basically creating a barrier of insecticides around the perimeter of your structure. For crawling insects, this is going to be extremely effective. So a barrier treatment is using a liquid insecticide to spray four feet up from the base of the structure and four feet out from the base of the structure. You will also target window frames and door frames and also any utility pipes that lead to the inside. The idea is that you are keeping them out before they even have a chance to get in.
