How to Get Rid of Chipmunks

Chipmunks are mostly active during the early morning and late afternoon. They are known to dig burrows which are about two inches in diameter without an obvious mound near its entrance. Their entries and exits are often well hidden and located near buildings such as basements, garages and near objects such as wood stumps and wood piles.

The chipmunk can be a cute and cuddly, but for homeowners and gardeners they can be of a nuisance. Chipmunks are known for devouring garden vegetables, fruits, plants, flower beds, eating from bird feeders and even chewing on electrical lines and pipes. In addition, chipmunks can potentially carry various diseases. They also attract other pests into the equation. Snakes are highly attracted to areas where chipmunks are populated. Moreover, their burrows weaken your home making it more susceptible for termite infestations. Not only can chipmunks cause problem outdoors but also indoors. Chipmunks have been spotted in attics and basements.

Chipmunk Repellent & Traps

Chipmunks can produce twice a year, so it is important to act upon a control treatment method to reduce and prevent chipmunks from invading. There are several ways to control chipmunks. Chipmunk epellent granules are a great way to prevent anymore chipmunks from invading your home. Simply shower granules creating a perimeter around your home. Another great method is to smoke chipmunks out using gas sticks. Gas sticks release a strong sulfur gas which will kill small rodents while engulfing underground burrows and tunnels. Simply place a Giant Destroyer Gas Stick in the entrance of a burrow then attach and ignite the included fuse. Place the gas stick deep within the entry and cover the entrance hole (be sure to block off any open gaps to ensure the released smoke does not escape). One of the most reliable ways to get rid of chipmunks is to set up traps. Chipmunk traps have been used for the longest time and for good reason too, they work. Using the right bait, chipmunks will be lured in and trapped for good. In addition, the use of traps also promotes humane and live animal trapping. When captured, simply relocate the animal(s) off your property.
