Chipmunks compared to their squirrel relatives are smaller in size and do not have large bushy tails. Depending on the species of chipmunks, they can range in size anywhere from three and a half to six inches. How to Get Rid of Chipmunks
Chipmunks are mostly active during the early morning and late afternoon. They are known to dig burrows which are about two inches in diameter without an obvious mound near its entrance. Their entries and exits are often well hidden and located near buildings such as basements, garages and near objects such as wood stumps and wood piles.
The chipmunk can be a cute and cuddly, but for homeowners and gardeners they can be of a nuisance. Chipmunks are known for devouring garden vegetables, fruits, plants, flower beds, eating from bird feeders and even chewing on electrical lines and pipes. In addition, chipmunks can potentially carry various diseases. They also attract other pests into the equation. Snakes are highly attracted to areas where chipmunks are populated. Moreover, their burrows weaken your home making it more susceptible for termite infestations. Not only can chipmunks cause problem outdoors but also indoors. Chipmunks have been spotted in attics and basements.
Chipmunk Repellent & Traps
Chipmunks can produce twice a year, so it is important to act upon a control treatment method to reduce and prevent chipmunks from invading. There are several ways to control chipmunks. Chipmunk epellent granules are a great way to prevent anymore chipmunks from invading your home. Simply shower granules creating a perimeter around your home. Another great method is to smoke chipmunks out using gas sticks. Gas sticks release a strong sulfur gas which will kill small rodents while engulfing underground burrows and tunnels. Simply place a Giant Destroyer Gas Stick in the entrance of a burrow then attach and ignite the included fuse. Place the gas stick deep within the entry and cover the entrance hole (be sure to block off any open gaps to ensure the released smoke does not escape). One of the most reliable ways to get rid of chipmunks is to set up traps. Chipmunk traps have been used for the longest time and for good reason too, they work. Using the right bait, chipmunks will be lured in and trapped for good. In addition, the use of traps also promotes humane and live animal trapping. When captured, simply relocate the animal(s) off your property.

Q. chipmunks in basement
I have chipmunks coming under my basement floor. Do you have any ideas how I can control these pests?
A. You can use the Giant Destroyers if you are able to find the entry point outside the structure. However, as a precautionary statement, Giant Destroyer is not labeled for indoor use and if the entry point leads to the inside of the home or basement, you cannot use the Giant Destroyers. Rodenticide will also work for chipmunk control and if they are inside your home, you may want to consider using rodent glue boards.

I want to use the old fashen rat traps to get rid of the chickmunks - what bate shuld i put on trap ???????????
A. Usually, walnuts or apples are great baits. A lot of the nut types of foods will also attract chipmunks.

I was told to buy the Answer bait and traps to use around my home. Is this the trap to use with the Answer for chipmunks Rodenticide packets?

Q. does "D Con" work the same on chipmonks as mice
something is in my garage I find droppings in one area and I am not sure if it a mouse of chip. does d con work the same on both-or do I need something for ea. HELP Thank you
A. Since we do not carry the product, we do not have much information on it. However, rodenticides are primarily not target specific and the poison can be hazardous to non-target wildlife, therefore, if a chipmunk were to eat the poison, it may be effected in a negative way. However, we are unable to say whether or not it would be fatal to the chipmunk.

Q. how to get rid of chipmonks above finished basement ceiling
A. First and foremost, you need to find their entry point. They probably leave and come back and will not stay there the whole day. You can use a live animal trap outside of the entry point. Using rodenticides inside the house means that there is a risk of them dying inside the house and leaving bad and strong odors. Live animal traps, glue boards, and snap traps are the best way to get rid of rodents inside the house.

i have those sonic pest chasers. will they work on chipmunks the way they work on mice?
A. We do not recommend sonic pest chasers. According to the EPA, sonic devices have proven ineffective.
Instead, we recommend using live traps, glue boards, and rat poison.

Q. how do i stop chipmunks from putting walnuts under hood of my truck for hybernating
chipmunks are putting walnuts in the motor of my gmc jimmy i drive and the blazer my daughter drives. its almost gotten us in car accidents and we have to check under the hood before we go anywhere. i know they are doing it cause their getting ready to hybernate but its getting dangerous.
A. Unfortunately, there is no real way of preventing them from going inside the hood of the trunk. They access the internal parts of the car from the tires and so you can try to put rodenticide around there in bait stations (so you will be able to protect other wildlife) or use glue boards at the base of the car.
