HOW to GET RID of CLOVER MITE

Adult clover mites are slightly smaller than a pin head and have bright reddish to a reddish-brown body. Clover mites are tiny so that on the walls they look like dark red specks crawling around sidings, doors, windows, drapes, curtains and furniture. If a clover mite is accidently crushed, they will cause a stain because of their coloration. Their front legs are as long as the body and will extend forward. Clover mites can be found in large numbers. Clover mites do not injure humans and pets nor damage buildings and furnishing but will destroy number of grasses and plants in the yard. Clover mites can live off of algae and mold as well. Clover mites will migrate into houses in early summer and fall when their food source begins to die or when the weather become extremes.

CLOVER MITE INSPECTION

Clover mites can be found where algae and mold grow as in roof tops, cracks in concrete foundations, cracks and crevices of buildings, underside of the bark at the base of trees, and under sidings, sewers, as well as in lawns.

CLOVER MITE CONTROL METHODS

In order to control clover mites better, remove grass and weeds from 18 to 24 inches around the structure of the house. Place a plant-free band of gravel, coarse sand, marbles, lava rock, or wood chips around the structure. Avoid excess watering or fertilizing. If the house does become infested with clover mites, the most effective way in treating is vacuuming and application of pesticides.

Since clover mites are found in grass areas, you will need to treat your whole entire lawn, large turfs, and other landscaped areas. You can treat clover mites by granule (DELTAGARD G GRANULE, BIFEN GRANULES) using a hand spreader, and liquid (BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP ) using a hand one gallon sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER).

Using the amount suggested for the use of granule (DELTAGARD G GRANULE, BIFEN GRANULES), spread the granule using the hand spreader (HANDLE SPREADER, HANDY GREEN II SPREADER) on your whole entire lawn, large turfs, and other landscape areas. Irrigate you lawn after applying the granule to activate the granules.

For liquid application (BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP ), you will need to follow the instructed amount and spray using a mist nozzle on your hand sprayer uniformly (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER).

You will also need to do a barrier treatment. A barrier treatment is creating a barrier or one around your home for prevention of future infestation. A barrier treatment is also known as a perimeter treatment, where soil areas are adjacent to a structure as well as a portion of the lower foundation wall next to the soil treated. You will apply the barrier treatment as same as a broadcast treatment except that you only need to treat around the home instead of the whole lawn.
