HOW to GET RID of FLEAS

Fleas are very small and they do not have wings. Fleas are 1/12" - 1/6" long. Fleas are parasites that feed on humans and other warm blooded animals. Fleas are attracted to body heat, movement and exhaled carbon dioxide. They will bite and the common reaction to the flea bite will be that it is swollen, red, will have a single puncture often seen in the center of each spot, and ITCHY. ¤Ô¤¸¤À¤¸leas can survive several months without food. They prefer warm and humid temperatures. Fleas can transmit plague, typhus, and tape worms because the feed of different blood. Fleas can jump 7 to 8' high and 14-16' long. Flea infestation is extremely hard to control. Fleas are hard to locate because they will be deep in the carpets or in cracks and crevices of floors and upholstery. Vacuuming will not get rid of them because they get caught in carpet fibers. Be sure to throw away the vacuum bag after vacuuming because they might still be alive in the bag. Remember NOT TO GIVE UP! Fleas are tricky and stubborn pests.

FLEA INSPECTION

Fleas will live deep in carpets, cracks and crevices of floors, upholstery, and fabrics, garages, furniture, under beds, corners, closets, kennels, crawl spaces, under steps, and porches. Fleas will infest anywhere and everywhere in the home. Since fleas are so small, you can place a white piece of paper, a white sock, or a white t-shirt and place them where you suspect they infest to see if where the infestation is worse and to see the fleas. Fleas will foremost be found on pets, dogs and cats. Cat fleas and dog fleas are slightly different; however, the difference cannot be seen by the eye and has to be seen under the microscope.

FLEA CONTROL METHODS

First and foremost, you will need to treat your pets. Giving them a shower with flea shampoo will kill fleas on the spot, however you should still treat you pets because the eggs and larvae will not be killed with the shampoo, in that case you will need to use the PETCOR FLEA SPRAY. Just apply a light even coverage of the hair coat, however for the best penetration, ruffle the coat while spraying against the natural layer of the hair.Over the animals' eyes with a hand and in a firm fast stroke; spray the head, ears, and chest. With a cloth dampened with the PETCOR FLEA SPRAY, rub into the face, around the mouth, nose and eyes. Then you will spray the neck, middle, and hind quarters, finishing with the legs and tail last. Avoid spraying rectum and the genitals. Do not allow the animals to become chill. Repeat every two months if necessary. After your pet has been treated, treat the outside of your home. This can be done by liquid spray (ARCHER IGR - 1 PINT, BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, CYPER WP, SUSPEND SC, CONQUER LIQUID INSECTICIDE ) using a hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER), and granule (BIFEN GRANULES , TALSTAR EZ GRANULAR, TALSTAR PL GRANULAR ) using a hand spreader (HANDLE SPREADER, HANDY GREEN II SPREADER). Using the amount directed on the label, apply the liquid spray or granule on your whole entire lawn, large turfs, around bushes, and around utility pipes. Apply under sidings and cracks and crevices on the outer part of your structure because they may hide in them. For indoors, we suggest that you use, dust (DELTA DUST, PYGANIC DUST) using a duster (BELLOW BULB DUSTER, CENTROBULB DUSTER ), aerosol (PRECOR 2000 PLUS PREMISE SPRAY , PRECOR FOGGER, ULTRACIDE AEROSOL , V CLEAN-OUT FOGGER), and liquid spray (ARCHER IGR - 1 PINT, BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, CYPER WP, SUSPEND SC, CONQUER LIQUID INSECTICIDE ) using a hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER). Apply the dust (DELTA DUST, PYGANIC DUST) using a duster (BELLOW BULB DUSTER, CENTROBULB DUSTER ) lightly and uniformly pay particular attention to cracks and crevices, service ducts, false floors, around electrical and telephone fittings and equipment, around refrigerators and sinks, around window/door frames and in the jointed areas of furniture. DO NOT OVER USE DUST and DO NOT apply dust where children and pets are present at all times. The aerosol (PRECOR 2000 PLUS PREMISE SPRAY , PRECOR FOGGER, ULTRACIDE AEROSOL , V CLEAN-OUT FOGGER) will be used as the same as a dust, except be cautious when spraying around electrical objects because aerosol is a liquid product. Using the liquid spray (ARCHER IGR - 1 PINT, BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, CYPER WP, SUSPEND SC, CONQUER LIQUID INSECTICIDE ) with a hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER), apply the instructed amount on pet beddings and where pets are most of the time. Apply on floors, around window/door frames, upholstery, and rugs. Using the liquid spray may stain certain furniture so it is not recommended to be used on furniture. Do not touch the treated surfaces until they have completely dried. Leave the home for about 3 hours after 3 hours, vacuum the entire house thoroughly and dispose the bag. For furniture, using an extension, vacuum the cracks and crevices, and under/between the cushions. You can use this aerosol product (BEDLAM INSECTICIDE SPRAY) on your mattress for extra protection, you will first need to remove the covers and let the aerosol dry and then vacuum after 3 hours of leaving the house and replace the sheets. You will need to treat 4 times every 2 weeks if the infestation is heavy. It is recommended to throw away the infested pet bedding if possible and replace it with a new one. Remember NOT TO GIVE UP when treating fleas.
