Beetles are the largest number of known species. They have an ability to adapt to any environment. One of the most important features of a beetle is their elytra. The elytra are a hard exoskeleton covering over wings and it protects the beetle. Beetles have so many known and unknown species and new species is being found frequently. The estimate of the total number of beetles, described and not described, is between 5 and 8 million. Not every beetles are considered to be pests.
Beetles are associated with all kinds of different plants, beetles are also found in logs or under bark, in fungi, in mud, in decaying plant and animal matter, in water, in stored food, in bird and mammal nests, and in termite nests. Many beetles live in deep in the soil or in decaying leaf litter on the ground. Other beetles live under rocks or in caves.
Since there are so many different species of beetles, we treat them in general. However, certain species need extra special treatments. These beetles consist of: Carpet Beetle, Lesser Grain Borers and Pantry Beetle, and Powderpost Beetle.
Prevention:
To help prevent beetles from forming, you can take certain steps to reduce the number of infestation in a house or in your yard.
Crack and Crevice/Void Treatment:
This treatment is to be used in cracks and crevice and even voids in your home where beetles might enter or live. This treatment can be used with liquid spray (MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, DEMON WP, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP), dust (PYGANIC DUST), aerosol (ALPINE AEROSOL, V ONE PYRETHRUM, CY-KICK AEROSOL), or traps (XLURE RTU COMBO TRAP , PANTRY CONTROL). While using a liquid spray, we suggest that you use a hand gallon sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER). or liquid spray (MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, DEMON WP, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP), you will use the amount instructed on the product label, you will just a pinpoint nozzle from a hand gallon sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER) and spray into the cracks and crevices for long lasting effect. You will have to spray around door frames, window frames, window sills, cracks on the moldings in the walls, walls, cabinets and pantries, and anywhere that has a crack and crevice and the beetles might become through.
Void treatments are used when the area that is infested or needs to be treated cannot be reached. If that is the case, then you will need make an access (ex: to drill a hole into the wall near the infested area or removing an electric outlet covering) and using the liquid spray (MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, DEMON WP, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP), spray the empty spaces in the walls. Be cautious when using a liquid spray around electric objects because it is a liquid product.
In a crack and crevice and void treatment using dust (PYGANIC DUST), we suggest that you use a duster (BELLOW BULB DUSTER, CENTROBULB DUSTER) with an extension tip. Using the suggested amount instructed on the product label on the dust (PYGANIC DUST), fill the duster halfway with the dust and apply the dust into cracks and crevices. DO NOT OVERUSE DUST. Do not apply dust where children or pets may touch. Do not apply it directly into the hole, but the around the void inside because there is a chance that the dust might blow out.
Using an aerosol product (ALPINE AEROSOL, V ONE PYRETHRUM, CY-KICK AEROSOL) for a crack and crevice treatment, apply the suggested amounts using a straw attached to crack and crevices in cabinets and pantries, wall voids, around window and door frames, under sidings and in machinery. For baits, you will need to place them in your pantries or cabinets where you seen to have beetle problems. Place them against the wall and the pheromone will attract the beetles to the trap instead of your food.

Broadcast/Barrier Treatment:
Broadcast treatments are used for large turfs, other landscape areas and the whole entire lawn. Following the contained directions for the use on specific amounts of the product to be applied as a liquid spray (MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, DEMON WP, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP), granule (Bifen Granules 25 lbs., TALSTAR EZ GRANULAR). We suggest when using a liquid spray (MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, DEMON WP, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP), that you use a hand one gallon sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER) and when using granule we suggest that you use a hand spreader (HANDLE SPREADER, HANDY GREEN II SPREADER).
Using the amount instructed for the liquid spray, use a mist nozzle setting and treat the entire lawn. For the granule application (Bifen Granules 25 lbs., TALSTAR EZ GRANULAR), use the amount instructed on the label and using the spreader (HANDLE SPREADER, HANDY GREEN II SPREADER), spread the whole entire lawn, large turfs, and other landscape areas and then irrigate the lawn to activate the granules.
A barrier treatment is used when you want to make a zone around your home. These treatments is by applying a liquid spray (MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN 7.9, DEMON WP, CYPER WP, CYNOFF WP) using a hand gallon sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER), and granule (Bifen Granules 25 lbs., TALSTAR EZ GRANULAR) using a hand spreader (HANDLE SPREADER, HANDY GREEN II SPREADER). These are sometimes called a perimeter treatment, where soil areas are adjacent to a structure as well as a portion of the lower foundation wall next to the soil treated. You will treat the barrier treatment as same as a broadcast treatment except that you only need to treat around the home instead of the whole lawn.
