HOW to GET RID of LADYBUG

Lady bugs are also known as Asian Lady Beetle. Lady bugs do not bite or sting, carry diseases, breed indoors, feed or do damage to anything in the house. Lady bugs only come into the home during the winter to seek shelter. Adult lady bugs are oval, convex, around 1/4" long. Their color is pale yellow-orange to dark orange-red, the colors differ from different Asian lady beetle species, but in the United States they are often found as red or orange with black spots. Lady bugs do not like shady areas. Lady bugs will crawl through little cracks and crevices or natural breaks in the window panes, door jams as the temperature gets colder. They are attracted to brighter/lighter colored buildings and especially to homes that sun shines on frequently.

LADYBUG INSPECTION

Lady bugs are tree-dwelling insects, so any home that is near or surrounded by trees are most likely to have an infestation. Some lady bugs prefer to cluster on the sides of homes and other foundations. They can also be found under bark or in leaf litter during the fall.

LADYBUG CONTROL METHODS

The best time to control lady bug infestation is in fall. There are not a lot of chemical treatments that can be done when a lady bug infests your home; the easiest way to treat lady bugs are to vacuum them. You can also treat them with a liquid spray (BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, DEMAND CS) using a hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER), aerosol (CY-KICK AEROSOL, JK27 RESIDUAL, D- FORCE HPX) or granule (BIFEN GRANULES,TALSTAR PL GRANULAR,TALSTAR EZ GRANULAR) using a hand spreader (HANDY GREEN II SPREADER, HANDLE SPREADER). Using the amount instructed on the label for a barrier treatment, or also known as a perimeter treatment, we suggest that you use a liquid spray (, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, DEMAND CS) using a hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER) or granule (BIFEN GRANULES) using a hand spreader (HANDY GREEN II SPREADER, HANDLE SPREADER) and make a band around your house. This treatment is called a barrier treatment because it makes a barrier around your home. When using granule, irrigate your lawn immediately after the application to activate the granules. Using the liquid spray (BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, DEMAND CS), apply it around the door/ window frames indoors and out. Spray under your siding, cracks and crevices, and where utility pipes exist. For indoor treatment, spray the liquid spray (BIFEN IT, MASTERLINE BIFENTHRIN, DEMAND CS) using a hand sprayer (CHAPIN 1 GALLON SPRAYER) or aerosol (CY-KICK AEROSOL, JK27 RESIDUAL, D- FORCE HPX), around windows, crack and crevices, around doors, walls, and where pipes come into the home or anywhere that lady bugs are seen.
