Other Pest Control

There are more than one million different insect species in the world. Moreover, experts claim that there could be as many as thirty million other insect species we have not yet discovered. In terms of population, insects dominate settling at around 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 in the world! While that number settles in, imagine the amount of other pest related problems. To think in a general mindset would not be fair. Many people in the world are in misery from the annoyance of these other bugs crawling and causing mayhem in the world. The “other” insects include boxelder bugs, centipedes, chinch bugs, earwigs, lady bugs, millipedes, pill bugs, scorpions, and stink bugs. For the most part, dealing with other pest related issues, the mentioned list of bugs were the most popular among our patrons.

Even though majority of bugs are not able to harm humans, some still are and we must take considerable action to prevent and control any bug infestation. In addition, while most bugs are not capable in harming humans, they can still cause havoc through their pestering behavior. Based on the millions, if not billions, worth in property damages, insects easily fall into the category of pests.

Q. book lice treatment
Hello, I have a book lice problem in one room in my house, and was recommended PT-565XLO and PT-CYKICK CS. Can you please tell me how I can order a can of each? I need them asap as it is my baby's room that is effected. Many thanks
A.   Using aerosols for book lice like 565 Plus XLO or CYKI-CK will potentially damage your books because aerosols are water or oil based. You can use Nuvan ProStrips inside a airtight sealed bag.

Q. noseeums control
i have been dealing with noseeums in my apt for three years. now these thing are in my hair i can feel them moving around i haved moved from the apartment beforesept. 2011,but all i've done is moved the noseeums from one place to another can someone please help me with a spray or fogger or something.
A.   If you have a fogging machine, you can use Riptide ULV or a misting concentrate called EcoExempt Misting Concentrate and Emulsifier. Those are the only types of "foggers" that we can recommend.

We do not carry and pressurized foggers in cans that have No See Ums on the label.

Also, we do carry a liquid concentrate called Onslaught that you dilute with water and spray on surfaces. Onslaught provides a long residual and you will only need to reapply every 3-5 months.

Q. Citrus leafmining control
Do you have anything to control citrus leafminer? Thanks
A.   The Merit line that's made by the manufacturing company Backed by Bayer is a great insecticide for leafminers. However, because citrus leafminers will infest edible plants, there are not many insecticides that are available. Unfortunately, even with the Merit line, you must wait at least 12 months before you can eat the plants that the citrus leafminers are infesting. Almost no insecticide can be used near or around edible garden or orchard plants. But the Merit WP or the rest of the Merit products we carry will be closest you will find to an insecticide that can control leafminers on edible plants.

Q. CRAWL SPACE INSECTICIDE
I HAVE A 1 FOOT HIGH CRAWL SPACE UNDER PART OF MY HOUSE. WHAT IS THE OVERALL STRONGEST PRODUCT THAT I CAN SPRAY UNDER THERE TO MAINTAIN AN INSECT FREE AREA? HOME DEPOT HAS SOME PRODUCTS, BUT I WANT SOMETHING STRONGER. THANK YOU.
A.   For general pest control treatment we would recommend Suspend SC. Suspend SC is a liquid concentrated insecticide that will need to be diluted with water before use.

This would be great for spraying vertical surfaces with in the crawl space area.

However for easy application on horizontal surfaces such as the ground, granular insecticides tend to serve as an easier way of application. Talstar EZ would be a good granular to use for insect treatment.

Q. Pest Control Incecticide
our pest control guy has added this ingredient for the last 3 months and we've noticed each time our dog acts sick for a few days afterwards. We wait till it dries before letting him out but apparently he is being exposed to it. How dangerous is this? Should we discontinue our pest control?
A.   Please find out the name of the ingredient and then call the manufacturer of the product. With a question this technical, it is better to consult the manufacturer directly or even your local veterinarian to find out what kind of adverse effects this substance can have on your dog. Good luck!

Q. do our own pest control
can you recommend a spray for the perimeter outside of our home for bugs etc. that is pet safe. We recently stopped using orkin and want to do our own pest control due to finances.
A.   We would recommend a multi-purpose insecticide such as Talstar Pro or Suspend SC for spraying around the perimeter of your home. However, certain pests are targeted better with different insecticides. Talstar and Suspend are both good for overall perimeter treatment, but please contact us again if you have a specific pest you want to especially target.
