Q. Annual Miller moth problem
In the Seattle area where I live, we have had serious Miller moth invasion inside our home. We have checked for crevices and openings around windows, used yellow lighting outdoors to no avail. They have been a problem every year now for 4 or 5 years. I tried a bug light indoors..it only attracted them but did not kill them.
A. Miller Moths are outdoor moths that can be found around the house because they are initially attracted to lights. Checking and double checking for bad screening, cracks and crevices by the doors and windows as well as other entry points by utility lines will be crucial for miller moth exclusion.
Landscaping may also affect the population and may attract more miller moths than you will like.
Instant knockdown agents are the most effective since little insecticides will really affect Miller moths. CB-Dforce HPX is one of the few insecticides that we can recommend because it has a general "moth" on the product label as a target pest. Other sprays will have certain species of moths labeled or it will say "small flying moth" which you can try as well like 565 Plus XLO.
Q. How to get rid of dusty moths?
we are invaded by ugly grey moths. Our back patio is full of them. how do we get rid of them?
A. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get rid of outdoor moths completely since they nest and breed outdoors. You can apply Lambdastar 9.7 to the outer surface of the structure to kill the ones that come in contact with that treated area.
I have a major infestation outside at my front door and in my grass and bushes. They seem to have a cumulated after we had a lot of rain. What is the best product I can use to get rid of them?
A. We recommend applying Cy-Kick CS to the isolated areas of infestation. Because it is an encapsulated insecticide, the residual will hold up much longer outdoors than other insecticides. Moreover, Cy-Kick CS is safe to apply on ornamental plants or plants that do not bear fruit or vegetables. Apply is to the infested grass and bushes once every two months.
Q. Have Insect Nests outside the House Wall
Looks dark Brown and if removed, it breaks like Powder
A. It is best to first identify what pest you are dealing with and then treat the area with the proper insecticide. Please provide us with the name or image of the target insect and we can better assist you.
Q. what can we use to rid us of we believe to be lawn grub. The lawn is going brown in many places starting with a small round circle and developing larger in a couple of weeks or so.We are told its caused by lawn grub which is what the creamy coloured larvae nests we have in so many places on the outside walls of house and eaves and guttering plus a outside fan we have on the ceiling in the undercover entertaining area. We clean them down because they look so awful and often they leave a stain behind on the rendering. These look so awful on our lovely newly built house. We are so tired of cleaning them away to only find what seems twice as much in a day or two. Can you tell me is there anything that we can purchase to stop this annoying problem keep happening as they look so awful but if it is right what we are being told that this is also the problem with our grass& we certainly do not want to loose a new lawn that has cost us a fair amount of money just lately having layed by a landscaper when our house was finished. We appreciate what we can buy to solve all problems. We have 2 small pooches so we cannot use anything that is slightly toxic but I really do not want to if it is at all possible
A. You do need to treat your lawn. You can use something called Merit 75 WP that can be applied to the lawn. Unfortunately, we not have non-toxic means of getting rid of grubs on your lawn.
Q. Moth infestation
I have a tree in front of my house that is being infested with moths. They just appeared suddenly. Also, birds seem to be attracted to the tree as well. I do not know whether or not that means anything but I need to know how long or if I need to do anything to get rid of the moths.
A. Birds are most likely gathering around that tree because of the moths and their larvae or other bugs that may also be infesting that tree. The best way to go about this treatment is to simply spray a residual insecticide on the tree. Ornamental plants can be safely sprayed with any residual product such as Suspend SC, Talstar Pro, Demand CS, and Temprid SC.
Q. I grow medical marijuana and the moths are laying there eggs in the bud and the eggs hatch and the caterpillars are eating and destroying the buds.what can i do to stop this.
A. You can use a combination of sticky glue traps and a product called Martin's Cyonara Lawn and Garden Spray. Martin's Cyonara Lawn and Garden Spray can be safely sprayed on plants and targets whiteflies as well as many other bugs.
Q. how long do the moths live i have them in my back yard
A. Most moths generally live a couple of weeks as adults.
Q. Grey/Brownish small moths on patio
I have many many grey/brownish moths on my patio that get in to my house all the time. I am having a hard time identifying them. My patio is dark and covered so great for them to breed! How do I get rid of them? I have cleaned my entire house and do not ever have any food out. I have my grain products in air tight canisters. I have no pets. I really have tried everything to get rid of them. Any ideas would really help. Also when I kill them, they give off a grey powder.
A. Your description matches a few different types of moths so I would not be able to tell you exactly what species you are infested with. However you can control the moth infestation in your patio by treating the area with a product like Suspend SC. If you are dealing with indian meal moths indoors in your kitchen/pantry area I would recommend that you use pheromoned moth traps for their control.
Q. wood moths insects
I live in Prescott, AZ in the woods. Every June/July we have huge amounts of wood moths that bug us. What kind of bug light do you recommend and what spray product for the outside of the house (screens, etc) to help kill them when they land.
A. Unfortunately, we do not have any fly light traps that will work for outdoor wood moths. For flying moths though, we recommend the insecticide Suspend SC or Cy-kick CS. Cy-kick CS will have a longer residual than Suspend outdoors. All treated areas must be avoided until the treatment has completely dried.
