What you should do if you find a bed bug !

What you should do if you find a bed bug!!

After the infested areas are located and you have fully identified the pest:

What should you should do if you have a bed bug infestation.

First of all make sure all areas have been checked, if you found bed bugs in the bedroom make sure the living area or other bedrooms in the house are not infested as well. Make sure you check all articles of clothing or clutters that was left on the floor.

If you find a bed bug: Place all uninfested clothings in a double layered heavy duty disposable plastic bags. All the infested articles or if you would like to be 100% sure either wash and dry the clothing in 180 degrees or either freeze them or dry clean all articles. Remove all bedding materials as well and completely wash everything. When doing this process make sure you do not use the same basket you used to tranport the infest articles to transport the newly washed clothing, linen.

Once all the bedding is removed from the bed bug infested mattress and box spring, move it so its not touching any walls and crevices. Spray the mattress and box spring using a non residual bed bug spray (Rest Easy, Steri Fab). It is a key factor to use a non residual spray due to the fact that it will get on your skin and could cause irrations. If you find bed bugs in sofas and other funiture it should be treated as well. Take out and apart as much of the funiture as spray all the surfaces and inside and undereath as well. Make sure you let the pesticide dry completely before recovering the infested areas.

For carpetting, lift the corner and crevice areas and dust, using a duster. For undereath the carpeting is one of the places you will find bed bugs the most. Dust are long residual that will kill over time using a contact kill method. The exposed bed bugs will expose other pests by either mating or feeding causing the whole colony to die out. Also make sure you dust inside the wall electric socks as well for bed bugs like to hide in these areas.

Dust

Delta Dust, Drione Dust, and Mother Earth D Dust.

Using an areosol spray, insert the straw and spray in between the cracks to make sure you have located and treated all the infested areas. Keep in mind that bed bug control is very hard and will not eliminate all the bed bugs in one treatment.

Sprays

Bedlam Bed Bug Insecticide Spray, CB 80 Extra, Clear Zone, D- Force HPX,V one Pyrethrum, (Non Residual Sprays Rest Easy, Steri Fab).

Travel Tips- What you should do to control bed bugs.

Incase you find bed bugs and bring them home with you.

Since most bedbugs are carried by travelers through contact with beds and hotel rooms in infected locations, following are some tips for those traveling to hotels that might be at risk.

  1. First, examine the room for potential hiding places of bedbugs, such as carpet edges, mattress seams, pillow case linings, bedboards, wall trim or other tiny crevices in which bedbugs might hide.
  2. Next, look specifically at the mattress seams for signs of bedbug activity: droppings, eggs, bloodstains or even bedbugs themselves, hiding in tiny folds and seam lines.
  3. Keep a flashlight nearby when sleeping, to immediately observe suspected activity during the night without having to get up out of bed, thereby giving bedbugs time to hide in safety.
  4. Never leave your clothing lying on the bed, or any location of possible infestation (as mentioned above). Instead, use hangers or hooks capable of keeping all cloth distant from the floor or bed. Suspend new shopping in bags the same way.
  5. Close all luggage (suitcase, travel bag etc.) when you're not using it. This way, during the night the bugs may move over the top of your bags and have difficulty getting inside.
  6. Elevate your luggage off the floor to luggage stand, tables or chairs. These can also be hiding places, but they are not as likely to be.
  7. Keep any bedbug you find (intact if possible) to show the hotel owner.

There are many insecticides that are available in both dust and spray applications. Some of the primary ingredients to look for when choosing something prove to combat bed bugs include premetherin, propoxur, chlorpyrifos, cyflutherin, fencalerate, benseneacatate, and resemthrin.

Hydoprene (Gentrol IGR Bed Bug Aerosol Spary or Gentrol IGR Liquid Concentrate) is an insecticide that does not actually kill bed bugs outritght, rather it works to sterilize adult bed bugs. While the process may take a bit longer it tends to ensure th e eventual end of the infestation.

For more organic approach you might consider the use of non- residual pyrethrin (Steri Fab or Rest Easy, Mother Earth D Dust). This form of insect control is derived from the chrysanthemum flower and routinely kills insects on contact.

You must first locate where the bed bugs live. Remember, just because they are called bed bugs, doesn't mean they can't live in other areas of the home. Once the bed bugs are located, there many control methods that may be used to combat the bed bugs.
