How to get rid of Whiteflies
Warm temperatures will bring new foliage. The warming weather and the rush of new foliage will attract some major pests, especially whiteflies. Like their name implies, whiteflies are white winged insects that are prominent during the spring season. They are considered one of the most difficult pests to get rid of in the agricultural industry. Whiteflies are minute in stature and are very difficult to spot. Some victims are not even aware of their infestations until the damage is already done. Their diet consists of sap that derives from the bottom side of vegetable crops including ornamental plants. In addition to plants, whiteflies also target a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, cotton and flowers. They are the most common pest known for infesting entire fields and greenhouses.

Whitefly Treatment
The main reason why they are considered pests is because of their honeydew excretion that permits the growth of black sooty mold fungus. This particular mold conflicts with the growth process and slowly kills the targeted plant. Moreover, whiteflies selfishly consume most of the plants’ nutrients which further hinders the plants growth process.
How to Get Rid of Whiteflies
Whiteflies are actually known to be resilient to pesticides. It is recommended to use glue traps to monitor and mildly control the infestation. For further control, the use of professional grade insecticides can be of assistance. Preferably, insecticide spray and dusts containing Pyrethrin can help with the elimination of whiteflies. The location of the infestation should be considered before the purchase of any insecticide. Depending on where the infestation is will matter on how effective the insecticide will be. Some general insecticides used for indoor and outdoor whitefly control are Tempo SC Ultra and Talstar One. Both are residual pesticides that produce excellent results in terms of a knock down kill for whiteflies.

Q. Can you get to the bottom line?
I grown habanero peppers and need something to get rid of white fly infestation.
A. Unfortunately, we do not carry any products can be used on edible plants. The only product we carry is called Merit 75 WP that is a systemic insecticide that can be used against white flies; however, the time between treatment and harvest must be at least 1 year as stated by the manufacturer. Is this white fly extremely tiny that looks like lint or dust particles.I know is not because i have seen them and they are flying and moving in different directions as they fly.Do they plague humans,i feel them on my hair and body.When i comb my hair i have seen them fly out. Please help me with this.Thank you.

Q. I have white fly in my hedges. I would like to use Talstar Pro.
A. The dilution rate for Talstar Pro for whitefly control is 0.25-0.5 fl. oz. per sq. ft. which means that it is diluted 0.25-0.5 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Q. I have an acre of Piper mythisticum infested with white fly and the only available solution is a liquid soap recommended by department of agriculture. Can i use smoke from dried leaves etc. to control them?
