Varied Carpet Beetle Trap

Varied Carpet Beetle Traps are simple yet effective beetle control devices. Carpet Beetles and their larvae eat almost anything organic from cloth fibers to human food. Use these reliable non-toxic traps to keep your home free of carpet beetles without resorting to harmful pesticides.

Why Should You Use?

The pheromone lure used in these traps remain active for 6 weeks. Traps are pesticide-free, making them safe for use around children and pets.

Directions for Use

To form the beetle traps, grab and pull the top and bottom seams of the trap to form an open-ended box. Install the pheromone lure inside the trap and fold the trap's bottom following the dotted lines. Install traps on floors and shelves known to have black carpet beetles. When installing in open areas such as floors, traps must be spaced 2-7 meters away from each other. Place additional traps if necessary. Replace traps when full of dead insects.

Where to Apply

Place the carpet beetle traps on areas where carpet beetles are present such as closets, shelves and carpeted floors. Carpet beetle traps must be installed away from areas with high human activity.

Useless
Didn't come with a lure, customer service insisted that it did and they could not possibly have left it out of the package, and if it did come with it, it wasn't packaged in any obvious way. After online communications went unanswered, I had a borderline incoherent conversation with customer service who offered nothing to me, not even the sale of the bullet alone. Unusable.

Not one bug was trapped. Tried it in a corner, behind a door and in the attic.

Shoddy product, packaging
The picture deceptively shows multiple lures and a few traps--this isn't to say you expect more, but it's manipulative nonetheless. Also, the company just rips one of the lures off the long piece of cardboard AND INCLUDES NO INSTRUCTIONS WHATSOEVER about how to install the lure, whether you open it, pierce it, do nothing to it--I had to search for other information about similar traps to find that out! The product is very cheap, just a foldable piece of cardboard with a peel-away sticker and glue underneath--no way it justifies the price tag. If it came with multiple lures and instructions about how to use them perhaps... Also, hasn't caught a single beetle, despite having seem them multiple times in the same room. Very disappointed. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

What am I not getting?
I kill live beetles walking around where I have the traps, but not a single beetle goes anywhere near the trap. Obviously they don't see it as attractive. Maybe I'm missing something here.

There were no lures included, so the item is worthless, except to catch the random bug that decides the trap is a good place to land.

Save your money!
I am killing beetles all around these things. I have had these traps out for 5 days now and not one single beetle. Meanwhile, I am vacuuming the beetles up all around the trap. Frustrating!!!

Reply : The Varied Carpet Beetle trap, as well as most other pantry pest or carpet/upholstery pest trap, are pheromone based and are specific to the species and pest. Pheromone lures are not food lures but they are hormone lures as well. This means a couple of things. If the pest you are trying to get rid of is not a varied carpet beetle species, then the Varied Carpet Beetle trap will not lure them. Moreover, the traps may naturally be more attractive depending on when you put them out. During certain seasons of mating, pheromone lures are highly attractive. It is also important that only 1 trap is put out per area so that you can avoid over-saturating the space with pheromones.

These things work GREAT! I followed the instructions to the letter and ALL 3 of the traps I purchased have a LOT of dead beetles in them. I feel so much better about using these instead of using toxic chemicals in my home!

no beetles yet
put out trap 3 days ago, not one beetle....still seeing the larvae

Reply : There are a lot of circumstances that can change the effectiveness of the trap. Some of these can include things like mis-identification of the pest, incorrectly installing the bullet lure, wrong placement, and etc. Among those, like you mentioned, you may have a poor batch of pheromones since usually, the glue remains effective for at least 2-3 months. Also, keep in mind that normally, varied carpet beetle activity begins in late spring and early summer. Varied carpet beetles will be attracted to pheromones during their activity season and if you are not catching any, it is because they are right now, inactive. If there are any problems with the trap, you must contact us within 30 business days so that we can exchange the product for you.

Not working as expected.
I have had 3 of these traps out for 2 weeks and have been killing live beetles around them, but not a single beetle has ventured into the traps. I decided to put the traps next to locations where I have killed several beetles over a period of 3 to 4 days, but nothing. Unless I am missing something, I don't think the traps are working, or I got a bad batch of pheromones. These are in my house and have been out since late Jan. 2012 going into middle Feb.

Carpet Beetle trap
I bought three traps to see what I am dealing with. I set one trap out but possibly because it's winter, I have seen no adult beetles in the trap so far. I was hoping this would attract the larva as well but apparantly not. I have seen larva outside the trap which I am addressing currently so if any of those gross little things reach the adult stage -- I'm hoping to see it work. I was confused about how the lure was used in the trap and had to ask if I needed to open the vial or use it as is. Customer support told me to use the vial as it is once it was out of the foil container and not to open the vial.

I had a problem with carpet beetles earlier this year in my common room and it was pretty stressful. The Varied Carpet Beetle Trap caught beetles in less than a week and we definitely noticed the difference very quickly.

At first, I didn't even know what these things were. I just knew we had a lot of them. I found some worms (later I discovered they were larva) and some adults so I browsed the internet and found out they were carpet beetles. I bought this carpet beetle trap as well as some spray and they were gone in less than two weeks! I'm so relieved.

I had a hard time using the trap because the vile was quite confusing to use at first, but once we figured out how to set the trap, it was very easy to place and very effective. I guess those pheromones really do attract them!
