ORIENTAL COCKROACH Control Methods
Since most of the cockroach species will live outside, you should treat the outside of your home first, so it will prohibit cockroaches to come into your home. You can use liquid spray (ARCHER IGR, LambdaStar 9.7% CS, FenvaStar EcoCap ) using a hand sprayer , granules (BIFEN GRANULES, TALSTAR EZ GRANULAR ) using a hand spreader (HANDLE SPREADER). Using the amount instructed, apply the liquid spray or granule on areas that damp, bushes, and areas that are moist. After using granule, remember to irrigate your lawn to activate the granules. You should also apply a band around your home making a barrier to prevent future infestations. Using the liquid spray, spray under siding, cracks and crevices on the structure, around door and window frames, and around utility pipes. For indoor treatment, this treatment is most of the time treated against German cockroaches because they live in your home, however it does not mean the other species cannot come into your home. We recommend that you use gels ( MAXFORCE FC MAGNUM ROACH BAIT, ADVION ROACH BAIT GEL ), baits (ADVION ROACH BAIT STATIONS, MAXFORCE ROACH BAIT STATIONS ), and aerosol (565 Plus Xlo,GENTROL AEROSOL (IGR), WHIT ORTHENE AEROSOL, ALPINE AEROSOL). However you can also use liquid sprays (ARCHER IGR, LambdaStar 9.7% CS, FenvaStar EcoCap ). You will apply the gel on the corners of the kitchen, in the cracks of appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, stove fans, etc.), under counters, cabinets, and sinks, and other small openings where cockroaches can enter. Place the bait station in places where they can hide. Place the stations adjacent to walls and corners, under appliances. You can place the granular insect bait inside the bait tray and place them where cockroaches are commonly seen. You can even hang them onto walls if you need to. Do not place a bait in places where it has been sprayed with a pesticide and do not spray on them. Do not place them where children and pets can reach. Before applying gels and baits, clean the surrounding areas first to get better results. Using aerosol or liquid spray, apply around door and window frames and walls, behind furniture, etc.

What works on oriental roaches

Because Oriental roaches primarily dwell outdoors, make sure you do outdoor treatment to keep them out. You can use a bait gel like Alpine Cockroach gel bait and a residual spray like Tempo SC to spray around the perimeter of your house. When treating indoors, focus on the lower levels of the home and also areas that are high in moisture and humidity like the basement, crawl space, floor drains, and etc. If you would like more details on what insecticides to apply and where to apply it, feel free to call us at 1-800-788-4142.

I live in a plat of condos that buildings of detached garages (4 per building). I have had a constant problem for years of the Oriental “waterbugs”/roaches in my garage. I always use store purchased can sprays and defoggers. Is there anything I can do given my situation where the property management company won’t do anything and my garage is surrounded by 2 others. I considered paying a company to exterminate inside the garage.

Hi Wagenb,
It’s difficult for areas like attached garages or apartments because they are attached to areas that are not your own. Usually, full cooperation from all tenants are necessary. For the meanwhile, you can try the Dupont Advion Cockroach Gel Bait and apply a pea-sized spot every 1-2 feet apart. All clutter should be removed. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again! 😀
