Get Rid of Ants Naturally

There are over 12,000 species of ants in the world, but very few species actually cause problems to humans. They easily get attracted by food and warmth. Some unlucky homes also get infested by carpenter ants and this species feasts on wood thereby causing harm to the structural integrity of wooden items and floor boards; these ants must be controlled immediately before it is too late. In order to keep such notorious ants away without causing harm to pets and kids with poisonous insecticides, here are a few natural ant control methods.

  • Keep the kitchen areas as spic and span as possible. Clear out food crumbs and clean up all dirty dishes as soon as they are out. Sweep and vacuum the area on a daily basis.

  • Use air tight sealed containers to store away left overs. It is advisable to seal up all fragrant items such as cleaning powders and deodorants for they attract ants as well.

  • Seal up all entrance holes and gaps in doors, walls or windows; this can be done with silicone caulk, putty, glue or plaster.

  • How to kill ants? Soapy water spray helps in killing ants for it hits and destroys their chemical trail. SO more ants are prevented from following the pheromone tracks. Add mint oil or citrus peels to the soapy water for longer lasting impact.

  • Deterring odors from peppermint and camphor based products can be used to get rid of ants.

  • Prepare boric acid ant bait by buying boric acid from a local drug store. Pour the syrup on tea plates and surround with boric acid. Place these baits in all ant infested corners; ants get trapped and die in the bait.

Thus the above simple steps are highly effective natural ways of getting rid of ants at home. In case the problem persists, contact the nearest pest control agency immediately.
