Are Bed Bugs Vectors of Disease?

Monday, 27. February 2012 14:41

This is also one question that I need to clear out. Can bed bugs be considered vectors of certain diseases? I mean why not? Mosquitoes, fleas and roaches are capable of doing that, so what is the difference with bed bugs? This is something that many people ask us and are curious about.

Based on what I found out, I guessed that yes, it is a logical thing that all blood sucking insects could be carriers of diseases. We call them vectors and the viruses/ bacteria that they carry or pass along from one host to another are called pathogens. Well, most insects are considered as carriers of certain disease like malaria, yellow fever, dengue, plague, West Nile virus, encephalitis, hepatitis and even HIV and so many more. KEEP READING

bedbug_kit     Getting Rid of Bed Bugs

Bed bug treatment requires much inspection and consistency of chemical treatment.

Using one of our bed bug kits would be a great way to approach the start of the infestation.

Different chemicals are designed to be used in different areas for different purposes with different residual times.

Therefore by statistics it seems that many people who purchase bed bug kits result in a thorough chemical treatment with higher success rates of elimination. After chemical treatment you should follow up with a monitoring plan with something like the Eco Keeper Bed Bug Monitoring Trap to ensure that you are rid of them after the chemical treatment.

You will most likely have to do about 3-4 treatments before you begin to see drastic results of decrease in their numbers. If you are lucky you may be able to get totally rid of them after those 3-4 treatments.

Again, a monitoring plan is a must! For instant remedy against their irritating attacks during the night, the Eco Keeper Bed Bug Tent has been, and still is one of the highest demanding bed bug products on the market. The tiny no see um mesh will keep the bed bugs from entering the inside structure of the tent in any of their stages (egg, nymph, adult).

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

It’s baffling now that I think about it. There are actually no preventive treatments for bed bugs. So much effort is put on getting rid of these pests, that nobody thought of how to prevent them from coming into a particular structure or home. However, it could be due to the fact that certain regulatory bodies and agencies in the community are not in favor of using pesticides for preventive purposes. KEEP READING

Bed Bugs in Multiple Occupancy Units

Thursday, 8. December 2011 9:47

bedbug 011One of the challenges one can ultimately face in this business of dealing with the bed bugs is the fact that there are homes, places or apartments which do not only cater one family. Instead, they house several families. This is what we call as “multiple occupancy”.

Well, with one family, taking precautions and doing some things to eliminate bed bugs is not very difficult since the thing that you do first is to talk to the head of the family then plan out the best approach to the problem. After the talk, you can then obtain a go signal from the head of the family and proceed with the plan. Now, with more people in an area, there is the possibility that some occupants might not agree to the proposal. And the possibility of the more than usual clutter is also there. What do you do it this is the case then? KEEP READING

The bed bug alert level is rising these days. In the past years, only homes were infested and considered places where bed bugs love to live. These days, however, apartments, motels and hotels, theaters, stores, schools, dorms, hospitals and even buses and trains are susceptible to bed bug infestations. How did this happen?

Well, one thing is that bed bugs will be carried anywhere through clothes, fabrics, luggage and baggage. People are asking us for any product that can prevent bed bug infestations. But as of the moment, experts on bed bugs are coming up with definitive answers. But even expert researchers are unable to come up with a preventative measure for bed bugs. KEEP READING
