Chinch bugs are true insects that can cause a lot of damage to lawns and turfs. Most of the time, because of their small size, they are not that noticeable and before an infestation is found, a homeowner may notice lawn damage first.

Identification & Description
Chinch bugs are small, slender insects that are typically black in color with white wings and black triangular markings on its wings. The newly hatched nymphs are brighter in color. As they develop, they will gradually change in color from a reddish color to a black color. Nymphs have white bands across their abdomens and will go molt as they mature.
