Q. termite control & eradication
Dear PestMall, I have read with interest your D.I.Y. advice on getting of subterranean termites. I live in England UK and have a 400 year old house in Spain which may have termites infestation. Your Firstline Termite Bait System Kit has been recommended by you to other termite sufferers Please advise me on: 1) The cost of the Kit 2) Tools I need to carry out the work 3)Shipping cost to London England UK or to Spain. Are there any UK stockists or distributors of your products? Sincerely
A.   Firstline Termite Bait System Kit costs $242.45. These are placed in the ground and so you would need a drill to drill into the ground to make holes for the bait system.

Unfortunately, due to changes in our shipping policy, we no longer ship internationally.

We are unaware of any distributors in your country. More research would have to be done personally to find a distributor. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. which is the most recomended treatment for dry wood termites
A.   If you can, it is best to replace any damaged wood if the infestation is severe. However it can be costly to replace it. If the damage is small, you can treat the infested wood directly. We recommend injecting Premise Foam or Boracare into the wood to kill any existing infestation. Boracare can also be painted or sprayed onto the surface and will penetrate the wood, treating any existing infestation and preventing new ones. Please keep in mind that Boracare can only be used to treat unfinished wood.

Q. Termite bait station/placement and soil type
South West Florida My soil is pure sand. Pretty much like beach sand. What is the best bait? How far apart do the bait stations need to be? How far from the house do they need to be? I do not have gutters on the house. Does that play in to the positioning of the Bait stations?
A.   As far as the placement of the bait stations go, bait stations are usually placed 1-2 feet away from the house and 10-15 feet apart from each other. However, we are unable to inform you about the sand inquiry. But it would seem that it would not make a difference if it was sand or dirt. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. my sentricon termite bait stations
I have been servicing my sentricon stations for 2 years and no longer have a poison tube source. I am thinking to replace with Premise granules and start trenching using Termidor or Dominion. Please advise
A.   We do not recommend that you use the Premise granules. If you have sentricon stations, we do have replacement cartridges that will fit those stations. The Shatter Termite bait will fit the sentricon models. As for trenching, either Termidor or Dominion will work effectively.

Q. When my TBS wood/bait/poisen get's wet, do I need to replace it ?
I live in Connecticut, there is a rain and snow that I find tend to make the 22 stations I have around my house wet as well. Can I let the wood/bait/poisen dry out and re-use ? I find it impossible to have to replace all the contents everytime it rains. I also find other ants and in some cases termites both working together (who knew ) within the traps . . . seems stange that the contents will get wet, yet regular ants seem to enjoy these apartments I have provided. Is it ok to put some triazon grangulars within the traps too ?
A.   The termite bait stations can be wet and re-used after they are dry. We do not recommend you use the bait systems with anything other than the bait poison that correlate with the bait system.

Q. I Live in Sri Lanka I need to use some termite baits inside my flat the floors tiled, the termites attacked a piece of furniture that had ply wood. Please recommend the best product that i could buy. my apartment is only 1000 sq feet. Thanks
A.   We recommend using Boracare on furniture. Boracare is very effective because it penetrates into bare wood, keeping it safe from termites. Termite bait is only available for underground use, so it will not be appropriate.
