Many people will agree that most pests do more than just scare them or look creepy. However, there might not be a bug out there that is as less visible but more damaging than pesky termites. Although they remain well hidden underground or inside your woodwork, termites are considered one of the worst structural pests in the United States and many times, you are not able to detect their presence until after they have caused significant damage to your woodwork. Without the best products and proper control, termites could possibly ruin your largest investment. Fortunately, Pest Mall offers termite dust products that not only provide long residual times, but is easy to apply and applicable to areas that are restricted and hard to reach.

Keep in mind that termite dusts have a high chemical content and are not to be consumed. Read all product labels thoroughly before application. For more information on termite dusts or to purchase a termite dust that best fits the type of infestation you are experiencing, give us a call at 1-800-788-4142.

Why Use Termite Dust?

There are times when termite infestations, especially when drywood termites or dampwood termites, will reach areas like the wall void, the woodwork in the attic, in the crawlspace, and etc. For these restricted areas that are hard to access, many times, termite control can be difficult. It requires continuous drilling and methodical placement of the insecticide as well as prior dilution of liquid termiticides and etc. Moreover, termite sprays and materials that are applied as a surface treatment have short residual times and require regular maintenance that can be too tedious to handle. The termite dust products that are provided by Pest Mall were made to treat such restricted areas. Dust products have a long residual time and will provide termite control restricted areas like the wall void and crawl space for at least 5 months. This means that there are less treatment plans with just as much efficiency.

Termite dusts act as a contact kill that is slightly delayed. Therefore, as the termites go about their daily routines and come in contact with the dust, they are given just enough time to brush against and infect others in their colony. This is exactly why you can trust that termite dusts are effective. Soon enough, you will see your termite problems dissipate and ultimately, with termite dusts, you will be able to eradicate the termite infestation that has invaded your house. Moreover, termite pest control agencies that specialize in termite control use the best products and can be trusted to do their services well. However, in today’s economy, the prices that they charge for their services can be too high to handle. Pest Mall provides all the same termite dusts professionals are using minus the service fees so that you can have the same termite treatment plan without having to pay as much money.

How to Effectively Use Termite Dust

Termite dust can be directly applied to restricted areas that show signs of active termite infestations. Such places include underground cable conduits, junction boxes, manholes, the attic, the crawlspace, directly into the channels of the damaged wooden members of a structure, cracks and crevices in between the wooden parts of a structure, the area between the wooden structures and the foundation, and etc. Also, termite dust can be used as a preventative in locations that are vulnerable to termite attack because of the long residual. Sometimes, drilling may be necessary to access certain areas. Remember to wear a face mask so that you do not inhale the dust while it is being applied. Also, keep in mind that dust products are prone to be inhaled and that is why they are used in restricted areas. They are the perfect supplemental product for a complete termite control.

Q. Do you know of any people/pet safe termite
prevention products?
A.   There is no actual way of preventing termites, however, you can monitor for them by using termite bait stations. Because the termite bait stations are stations that can only be accessed by key, it is pet and people safe. They are installed around the entire perimeter of the structure at intervals of every 10 feet. Every three months, the monitoring cartridges are checked for termite activity. If there are signs of termite activities, those are replaced with termite poison baits.

Q. Short of tenting my home, how do I eradicate dry wood termites from an isolated area in my open beamed wood ceiling?
The only visible evidence is droppings on my fireplace mantel below the affected area in of the ceiling (about a linear foot of mantel droppings) so they are apparently housed inside the wall. I have access to the inner wall cavity via drilling holes in the drywall, plus there is limited access to the area via gaps between the ceiling beam and the tongue and groove fir ceiling. I surmise that if I could introduce deadly material through the cracks or through holes drilled in the drywall I might be able to eradicate them. Would appreciate your comments and recommendations.
A.   The best type of product to use for those isolated infestations like that will be a foaming product like Premise Foam. However, we do suggest that you get an inspection done to see what type of termite you have infesting your home so that you can better treat and potentially prevent future infestations. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via telephone at 1-800-788-4142.

Q. Do you have a fogger that would work well on termites that I have in my attic?
The termite inspector recomends tenting because the areas in the attic he found signs of termites aren't very accessible. This obviously is very expensive and looking for a much cheaper alternative like a fogger that I can set-off myself and have residual affect. Looking forward to hearing from you.
A.   Unfortunately, we do not have foggers that will kill termites. The products we carry for termite control have to be applied directly to the isolated area of infestation. We apologize that we are unable to better assist you.

Q. How long will the dust last once it's applied?
